Queen Mary University of London

A top research-intensive university with a unique approach, Queen Mary University of London provides opportunities to anybody with the capacity to excel.

Each of its four founding organizations was created to give “hope and opportunity” to marginalized members of society, and its history extends back to 1785 and beyond.

Queen Mary is a global institution today that is dedicated to enhancing lives locally, nationally, and worldwide, staying faithful to the goal of its founders.

It is one of the most diverse universities in the world, with faculty and students from more than 170 different countries on its campuses in London alone. Its undergraduate student body is also unique for a Russell Group university.

Nearly 50% of home students are the first in their family to attend college, 75% are Black, Asian, or minority ethnic, and over 90% are from state colleges.

With 92% of its research rated as internationally excellent or world-leading, Queen Mary has been ranked joint seventh in the UK for research quality (REF 2021).

Among its former employees and students are nine Nobel Prize winners.   For additional research, search “Queen Mary Research Highways.”

In 2022, Queen Mary won the UK Social Mobility Awards’ “University of the Year” for the sixth time.

This follows the 2021 Sunday Times Good University Guide saying “Queen Mary proves social inclusion and academic success are not mutually exclusive,” and a 2021 report by the Institute for Fiscal Studies, the Sutton Trust and the UK Government’s Department of Education naming Queen Mary the best university for social mobility in the country.

With campuses in Mile End, Whitechapel, Lincoln’s Inn Fields, West Smithfield, Charterhouse Square, and Ilford, Queen Mary is right in the heart of London.

Additionally, it is present in China, Singapore, Paris, and Malta.  Regarding public involvement, Queen Mary was the first UK university to receive the Gold Watermark (in 2016) and the Platinum Watermark (in 2021) from the UK’s National Co-ordinating Centre for Public Involvement.
