Emory University Undergraduate Scholarship: Under its Emory University Scholar Programs, the university grants half or full scholarships based on merit.

Emory University Undergraduate Scholarship

Emory University’s Emory University Scholar Programs include partial to full merit-based scholarships. There is more to scholar programs than just merit-based funding.

By providing tools and encouragement, they enable students to realize their full potential and have an influence on the school, Atlanta, and the wider community.

Requirements for Emory University Undergraduate Scholarship

  • In cooperation with distinguished professors, the Office of Admission oversees the selection process for merit-based scholar programs.
  • Every year, between 8,000 and 10,000 students apply to be Scholars. 175–200 of the students are chosen to be Scholar Finalists. Scholars Finalists Visits, which take place on campus in the spring, are mandatory for finalists. It costs the student nothing for us to bring the finalists to campus.

  • Over the course of many days, candidates will participate in activities and interviews aimed at a deeper understanding of Emory University and the unique opportunities that await them.
  • Applicants who are not selected as finalists for a program are still fully reviewed for admission under their selected application plan and will also automatically be considered for other smaller merit-based scholarships.
  • The Scholar selection process is completely separate from the financial aid process.
  • When a student is eligible for both merit scholarships and financial aid, merit scholarships are awarded first.
  • Students who applied for financial aid may also be eligible for need-based grants and loans if there is remaining need beyond the merit scholarship award.

Selection Process

Only one of the following programs—Emory Scholars, Oxford Scholars, or Goizueta Scholars—will be open to finalists.

Scholarship Timeline

  • The deadline for applying to the Emory University Scholar Programs is November 15. (Those interested in Early Decision I should apply by November 1st.)
  • Committees for faculty and admissions assess applications from October to January.
  • Scholar Finalists are selected and notified by the end of February.
  • Finalists visit the campus in early April. Announcement of membership in scholar programs.
  • The enrollment deposit deadline is May 1.

How to Apply

You must choose one of the three admission decision plans (Early Decision I, Early Decision II, or Regular Decision) and submit all necessary application papers by November 15 in order to be considered for any and all scholar programs. (Applicants wishing to use Early Decision I must do so by November 1st.)
