1. Building Automation Technologist

Location: 9744 45th Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB

Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

  • Obtaining a two-year diploma in Engineering Technology from a recognized institution, with additional training in H.V.A.C. Direct Digital Control Systems.
  • Five years or more of experience using “Direct Digital Control Systems” in the HVAC business
  • Possession of firsthand knowledge and expertise in developing programs for controlling machinery such as rooftop units, boilers, chillers, air handling systems, and make-up air.
  • Extensive control system and HVAC knowledge and expertise.
  • Capacity to comprehend, carry out, and interpret technical plans and specifications as well as written and oral instructions.
  • Enhanced proficiency with computers.
  • The role will require adherence to the City of Edmonton’s Code of Practice for Respiratory Protective Equipment, including medical monitoring, and successful candidates will need to be fit for a respirator.
  • This position requires adherence to the City of Edmonton’s safety regulations for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including wearing steel-toed boots.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license from Alberta (or the provincial equivalent). Holding a valid City Driver’s Permit is a prerequisite for this job.

2. Service Engineer – Automation

Location: Trois-Rivières, QC

Requirements:

  • The ideal applicant will have completed two years of technical school or an associate’s degree in a science discipline.
  • A bachelor’s degree in chemical or electronic engineering is also advantageous. five years minimum of experience with the controls environment and QCS/profilers. A plus if you have prior pulp and paper sector experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Both predictive and preventive maintenance of automation hardware, specifically profilers, controls, and QCS (scanner) systems, at the customers’ locations.
  • Commissioning automation devices in the field. For capital equipment, including new and additional system installations, service and performance documentation is required. Install additional hardware and software systems as needed.
  • Help clients solve problems over the phone and at their places of employment. Gain a thorough understanding of the clients’ pulp and paper process, as well as how the automation equipment works with it.
  • When necessary, offer service-related sales help. aggressively market and sell replacement parts and component upgrades at the client’s location.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with load flow, short circuit, and EMTP studies.

Preferred Technical Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the generation, distribution, and transmission of electric electricity.
  • Knowledge of using fault recorders and protection relays in power systems that involve transmission lines and substations.
  • Understanding of communication system architecture and sophisticated communication protocols.
  • Experience managing teams and participating in projects.
  • Proficiency with automation, integration, and system protection.
  • Experience during the past three years with ERLPhase relay products.
