Who is a Product Manager?
A product manager is the driving force and strategic thinker behind the success of a product. They are responsible for managing a product’s whole lifespan, from inception to launch and beyond.
They serve as a point of contact between the technical and business teams to ensure that the product meets user needs and organizational goals.
Generally speaking, product managers are quite knowledgeable about: Market Trends: They stay up to date with industry advancements and their competitors’ moves to ensure that their product remains competitive.
- User Needs: They conduct user research to understand customer issues and identify opportunities for product improvement.
- Business Objectives: They synchronize product development with the organization’s overall strategy and objectives.
- Technical Proficiency: They have a basic understanding of the processes and technologies used in the creation of new products.
Responsibilities
- To encourage sales and product development, give presentations on USSD Banking products, features, and benefits to internal customers as well as new and potential clients.
- Locate possibilities to enhance the USSD Banking Service Bouquet of products and secure additional mandates from Billers and Service suppliers.
- By reading trade journals and building personal networks, one can stay up to date on professional and technical topics (e.g., GSMA, Fintech, NCC, CBN).
- When necessary, add new goods, procedures, and features to the product policy document.
- Staff members that interact with customers are trained on new goods and procedures, and product deployment and execution are monitored with pertinent stakeholders.
- Examine and suggest improvements and fixes for the creation and application of the product.
Research, Analysis and Reporting:
- Examine information about rivals, the market, the industry, and the target market.
- Prepare unique reports, analyses, and short- and long-term product sales predictions to supply management with information.
- Determine areas where product innovation can be improved.
- Work on product creation and management with internal stakeholders and/or outside research agencies.

Product Planning and Management:
- To promote product activity, create product documentation such as use cases and market requirement documents.
- Create product policies and price strategies.
- Determine the packaging options for the goods.
- Handle and bargain with suppliers of support.
Product Marketing:
- To increase demand and product awareness, oversee and assist product event initiatives.
- Provide regional officers and the retail banking and public sector sales team with the required product knowledge (RFPs, RFEs, and proposals) and technical know-how.
- Provide and deliver product presentations; provide training materials and sales tools.
- Contribute to the creation of marketing collateral.
- Give sales teams access to the most recent marketing and research data.
Customer and End-User Support:
- Handle user requests, feedback, and support pertaining to the product.
- Determine the demands and preferences of your clients by carrying out the necessary research to get market data.
- To predict future market demands, keep an eye on client feedback and industry trends.
- Utilize customer feedback to direct future development and management as well as product refinement.
Job Requirements
Education:
Minimum Education: a first degree in any field that is applicable. Having more professional certifications is advantageous.
Experience:
Minimum Experience: four to six years of related experience in the financial services or telecom fields.
