PTDF Scholarship Scheme for Students (2024)
The PTDF officially extends an invitation to interested and eligible Nigerians to apply for Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctorate scholarships in Nigerian Federal Universities under the PTDF Scholarship Scheme 2024.
The goal of the Federal Government organization Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is to increase the capacity of native people to satisfy the demands of the oil and gas sector.

Requirements for PTDF PhD
- Applicants must submit a full-time admission letter to any Federal University in Nigeria.
- A least of Second-Class lower (2.2) in a field connected to oil and gas or management.
- An acceptable minimum GPA for a second-degree certificate program related to the oil and gas industry.
- Possess at least five credits’ worth of results from the WAEC, SSCE, or NECO (maximum of two sittings; both results must occur before the first degree).
- NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) certificate or Letter of Exemption
- Native American certificate (proof of state of origin and local government).
- The field of study ought to be pertinent to the oil and gas sector.
- A six-page maximum PhD research proposal is required. The proposal template can be accessed via the applicant’s profile on the PTDF Scholarship Management Portal.
Selection Process
Standards for Scholarship Programme within the nation (ISS) Graduate:
- Degree program, complete academic records, any further professional certifications obtained, and pertinent publications that the candidate may cite.
- Participation in professional associations.
- The feasibility of the study or research plan (only for PhD applicants)
- Applicants for postgraduate studies (MSc) must submit a statement of purpose outlining the purpose(s) of the research, its applicability to the oil and gas sector, and its anticipated impact on national development.
- A six-page research proposal, including a topic, introduction, literature review, research question(s), methodology, manner of data collection, projected outcome(s), uniqueness, relevance to the industry, and suitable references, is required of PhD applicants.
- Postgraduate candidates who are in their final year of study are not required to apply.
- Before the final candidates are chosen, those who meet the prerequisites for postgraduate study will be asked for oral interviews and placed on a shortlist.

PTDF Undergraduate Scholarship
Below are the criteria for undergraduate scholarship:

Undergraduates: N500,000 each year and a laptop (625,000 in the first year)
Requirements for PTDF Undergraduate Scholarship
- Candidates must be enrolled full-time in any Federal University in Nigeria.
- Candidates must be enrolled in 200-level courses at this time.
- The study program ought to be associated with the oil and gas sector.
- Have five WAEC, SSCE, or NECO credits, which should include two in maths and English language.
- For any undergraduate applicant, having a valid admission letter from the university is a requirement.
- A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 on a 5-scale or 3.0 on a 4-scale, or 2.2 in the first year, must be attained.
- Transcripts for the first year of study must be submitted by applicants; these must be signed and stamped by the university’s HOD, Exams Officer, or other authorized staff.
- Applicants who are undergraduates must be in their second year of study and have passed their first year’s two-semester exams.
- Only undergraduate applicants who are pursuing studies in oil and gas-related topics (as advertised) will be considered for consideration; the selection procedure will be based on grades on the transcripts. The university’s Exams Officer, Department Head, or any other authorized staff member must sign and seal transcripts.

- Proof of a statement of results from the WAEC, SSCE, or NECO with a minimum of five credits, including mathematics and English language (no more than two sittings; the first sitting result needs to be uploaded).
- Admissions letter from the university.
- Academic transcript(s) for the first year, properly signed and stamped by the exam officer, the head of the department, or other authorized staff.
- Native American certificate (proof of state of origin and local government)
- A 300-word or less personal statement outlining your motivation for enrolling in the course.

Requirements for PTDF Masters Scholarship
- A full-time acceptance letter to any Federal University is required of applicants.
- A minimum of 2.2 Second-Class lower in a field relevant to oil and gas.
- The study program needs to have a connection to the oil and gas industry and management.
- Possess at least five credits’ worth of results from the WAEC, SSCE, or NECO (maximum of two sittings; both results must occur before the first degree).
- Certificate from the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or exemption letter.
- Native American certificate (proof of state of origin and local government).
- A minimum of 1000 words should be dedicated to a personal statement outlining the rationale for the study program.
Selection Process
The requirements for the national scholarship program (ISS) Graduate:
- Degree program, complete academic records, any further professional certifications obtained, and pertinent publications that the candidate may cite.
- Participation in professional associations.
- The study’s or research plan’s viability (only for PhD applicants)
- Applicants for postgraduate studies (MSc) must submit a statement of purpose outlining the purpose(s) of the research, its applicability to the oil and gas sector, and its anticipated impact on national development.

Qualified applicants will pass through an oral interview.
