The Khalifa University Graduate Scholarship covers the cost of study, including a competitive monthly stipend, as well as postgraduate courses at the university. Khalifa University offers financial aid to international students seeking master’s and doctoral degrees.
Khalifa University Graduate Scholarship
Scholarship eligibility is assessed at each stage of the admissions process; separate scholarship applications are not required. There are only a certain amount of scholarship spots available.
In compliance with Khalifa University’s strategic aims, regulations, and processes, each applicant is evaluated and assigned to a certain scholarship Tier (full- or part-time) based on academic merit and other relevant considerations.
Fulfilling the requirements for a certain Tier does not ensure receiving a scholarship.
The Khalifa University Graduate Scholarship covers the cost of study, including a competitive monthly stipend, as well as postgraduate courses at the university.
Eligibility Requirements
1. Obtaining a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 out of 4.0 or its equivalent for a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline from a reputable accredited institution;
or completing a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.5 out of 4.0 or its equivalent from a reputable accredited institution (for direct admission from Bachelor to PhD).
A minimal degree of competence in English as demonstrated by either:
- 91 or higher on the internet-based TOEFL exam, or
- A 1550 EmSAT English score, or an overall academic IELTS score of 6.5
- A minimum Graduate Record Examination (GRE) quantitative score of 150. Candidates must take the GRE in all three areas.
2. Two or more referee recommendations, submitted using an online form.
3. A purpose statement (500–1,000 words).
4. Statement of research (500–1,000 words).
5. Interview for admission.
Benefits of Khalifa University Graduate Scholarship
The benefits of the Khalifa University Scholarship vary depending on the Tier of scholarships given to qualified applicants.
Full funding for a Tier Scholarship includes;
- Whole payment of the tuition.
- A base allowance of 20,000 AED per month.
- AED 20,000 more per month, contingent on approval and fulfillment of scholarship advancement requirements.
- University-provided textbooks.
- Assistance, subject to approval, in attending international research conferences.
- Khalifa University-sponsored medical insurance for international students enrolled full-time.
- International students enrolled full-time in study abroad programs are permitted to travel by air for both mobilization and demobilization (between their home country and Abu Dhabi), subject to approval.
- Payment of the application fees for a full-time UAE visa for international students.
- Promise to work for Khalifa University or a designated organization for a duration equal to the study period after graduation.

Required Documents
To apply for the Khalifa University Scholarship, individuals need to scan a clear, legible form and attach the necessary documents online:
1. A certified copy of your master’s or bachelor’s degree certificate, if relevant.
2. The UAE Ministry of Education issues equivalency certificates to candidates who have completed their education at non-UAE universities.
3. Visit the UAE Ministry of Education Equivalency Certificate link to apply for your certificate; be aware that this is a drawn-out procedure, so get started as soon as you can.
4. Transcript from the official school displaying the grading system.
5. Certificate of English Language Proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, or EmSAT).
6. Using the institutional TOEFL code 0960, your institution can send official TOEFL score reports straight to Khalifa University of Science and Technology.
7. Score report for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). Using the institutional GRE code 0822, official score reports can be transmitted directly to Khalifa University of Science and Technology.
8. Comprehensive Resume (CV).
9. A purpose statement of between 500 and 1,000 words is needed.
10. Picture in the format of a passport on a white backdrop.
11. Copy of valid passport. A legible copy of their current UAE visa should also be uploaded by foreign candidates who live in the country.
12. A duplicate of the Khulasat Al Qaid family book. Only those who are UAE nationals are obliged to submit this.
13. A valid UAE national ID card is necessary for applicants who are currently residents in the UAE, regardless of their nationality.
14. Purpose Statement (500–1,000 words).
15. Write a 500–1,000 word research statement. This is exclusive to PhD candidates.
