The University of Birmingham’s School of Computer Science is pleased to announce two scholarships, kindly provided by DeepMind, that are available to candidates who currently have an unconditional or conditional offer for the MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program at our UK Edgbaston campus.

The University of Birmingham is dedicated to improving diversity and accessibility for underrepresented groups in computer science, and it is receiving support in this regard from DeepMind.

As AI systems become more and more ingrained in our daily lives, it is crucial to guarantee that their knowledge is diverse to ensure that they are equitable for our entire society.

Benefits of the University of DeepMind Scholarship

The £34,225 UK scholarship is up for grabs. The scholarship’s worth is measured against:

  • Tuition in the UK is £11,340.
  • £18,985 in maintenance grant, payable in installments during the study, to cover living expenses.
  • Up to £2,200 in funding to attend a global conference on artificial intelligence (AI) and/or machine learning while enrolled in the course.
  • £1,700 will go toward buying necessary supplies (like a good laptop).

The value of the international scholarship is £56,525. The scholarship’s worth is measured against:

  • £31,410 for tuition fees abroad.
  • £19,345 in maintenance money, to be used for living expenses, to be paid in installments for the program.
  • Funding of up to £2,200 to attend a global conference on machine learning and/or artificial intelligence during the course.
  • £1,700 to be used for the purchase of necessary equipment (such as a good laptop).
  • £1,870 to help with moving costs.

Requirements for the DeepMind Scholarship

Candidates who would like to apply for the scholarship must fulfill the requirements listed below:

  • Assume a female identity.
  • Possess the proof necessary to show, if needed, that they would need financial aid to accept the admissions offer.

Applicants must also:

  • Have already been offered a spot in the University of Birmingham’s MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning program, either unconditionally or with conditions.
  • Either be considered an international student for fee-paying purposes OR be considered a resident of the UK for the majority of the time.

Selection Process

  • Foreign applicant.
  • The last day to submit a scholarship application is Sunday, July 21, 2024.
  • By the end of July 2024, applications will be shortlisted, and qualified applicants will be called for interviews.  Offer holders will receive direct access to additional information on the procedure.
  • Applicant from the UK.
  • The last day to submit a scholarship application is Sunday, August 18, 2024.
  • By the end of August 2024, applications will be shortlisted, and qualified applicants will be called for interviews. Offer holders will receive direct access to additional information on the procedure.
